In November 2023, Accountancy Vanmorgen released its top 50 accounting firms based on revenue. We can be found at spot 42, with a special mention: we are the largest organisation in the list with only one branch. A proud moment for all of us!
According to the AV Top 50, the 50 biggest accounting firms grew substantially in 2022. Total revenue grew by 10%. Numbers 5 to 50 accounted for a growth of over 8.5%. And just like the last top 50, virtually no firm showed a decrease in turnover.
Growth in staff
A trend was observed in attracting new staff over the past year, with more attention being paid to employee welfare, promoting development opportunities, and offering a good salary. Another way of expanding is by taking over other firms. The top 50 showed an FTE of over 38,300 in reference year 2022 compared to a total of 36,700 in 2021. That’s an increase of over 4%.

Higher rates and efficiency
In the quest for growth, many firms have looked at raising their prices and improving efficiency. A clear indicator of this is the increase in turnover per FTE, which averaged around 5% in 2022. Although there is a suspicion of higher rates having the biggest influence, some firms indicated that they have actively prioritised optimising their work processes. Sometimes the capacity declines, with those firms doing their best to keep turnover up by working harder or actively seeking opportunities to increase efficiency.

We also facilitate workations and have introduced a organisational format that allows young talents without a partner position to take the lead.
